Harry Vanda is an Australian musician, songwriter, and record producer, best known for his work in the rock and pop genres. Born on March 22, 1946, in The Hague, Netherlands, he immigrated to Australia in 1956. Vanda gained prominence as a member of the band The Easybeats, which was active in the 1960s and became known for hits like "Friday on My Mind" and "Sorry," contributing significantly to the Australian rock scene. After The Easybeats disbanded, Vanda formed a successful songwriting and production partnership with fellow band member George Young. Together, they produced notable works for prominent Australian bands, including AC/DC, where they helped shape the band's early sound. Vanda and Young also produced hits for artists like John Paul Young ("Love Is in the Air") and The Sports.
